Superior teen faces sex assault charge
A Superior man accused of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old made an initial appearance Monday in Douglas County Circuit Court.
Anthony James Martorano, 18, faces one felony count of sexual assault of a child under 16 years of age.
According to the criminal complaint:
In March, a mother overheard her daughter and a friend talking about the friend having sex with Martorano. She told the friend’s mother, who asked the girl about the incident. The girl confirmed it did happen.
Superior Police Detective Joe Krieg spoke with the teen, who said she engaged in sex with Martorano in February in a bathroom on the University of Wisconsin-Superior campus.
She was 13 years old and he was 17 at the time of the alleged incident.
Martorano was released on a $1,000 signature bond with the conditions he have no contact with the victim and no unsupervised contact with any female under age 16. A preliminary hearing was set for April 25.
